Been working way hard lately. Here is a collection of just a few of the objects I have modeled so far. All objects, trees, enemies, characters, and levels I will be making myself from scratch. I HATE those little 3D tree / plant creator programs. Honestly, the stuff always ends up looking awful when it's generated by a computer. It's worth the extra time to make everything perfect by doing it yourself.
Each plant / tree pictured here is low poly and ready to be imported into the game engine. The highest poly object, the palm came in at only 400 polys, while the smaller objects like the ferns are only about 120. The idea is to cram as much of these things onto the level at once without bogging performance and creating a believable environment. Well, basically trying to make it look as much like paradise as I can Also, there will be a LOT more objects than this. I'm going to make a BUNCH of flowers and just try to get everything looking way pretty.
Eitherwho! I will be working on the level meshes this weekend so I can finally give all my trees and plants a home
I am getting very excited for the release of this game. I hope some of you are too. Trust me, as much time as I'm putting into this, I won't make a sucky game
Edit: Ok, I had to throw much junk I made into the render so you all can see. LOL I'm gonna end up giving away all the surprises in the game away before it's even done!
Don't lie. I know you've ripped all of those from Far Cry. I kid, of course. You've done an excellent job on these, man. I'm definitely impressed. :B The alpha on the grass and leaf textures is nice and smooth, too. If you're going to stuff a lot of these into a level, then you might want to look into giving the game an appropriate (or adjustable) draw distance so they all don't bog down performance. Also, games like Crysis and Far Cry have this little trick for putting out tons of trees and stuff all at once. I think they turn them all into sprites when they're very far away. Also, a lot of games nowadays automatically adjust the level of object and terrain detail to lower polygon counts when they're at a distance, too. Of course, I'm sure you know a whole lot more about all of that game engine stuff than I do, though. I just thought I'd bring it up. I'm sure you can make all of that happen. ^^ Food for thought, you know? Anyway, great work, and I can't wait to see more!
I don't know all the programming jargon, but these look real nice...I'm sure it'll be worth all the time you've put into it when it's finally completed. Luscious decors are a big plus in any game
I'm sure that this will be a great game! Pardon me for asking a question that may have been answered before, but what program language(s) are you using?
Thank you so much! But yes, I am allowed to say the title, as this isn't a game for my work, this is just a side project I am doing for fun. A really... long, difficult, time consuming side project which as of now, doesn't have a title Hopefully though, someone takes notice once the game is complete and I can land a job working for Rare. But thank you again, I am VERY glad you like it! Good luck with your 3D portfolio as well!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
